AdamDirect ADSL2+ works exactly the same as standard broadband just much faster. This gives you a permanent high speed access to the Internet via your existing telephone line without call connection costs or tying up your phone line.
Adam Internet has upgraded the majority of South Australian metropolitan exchanges, which are now able to provide ADSL2+ connection speeds†. AdamDirect runs on Adam Internet's own network which provides high quality, fast and cost effective services.
AdamDirect plans are only available in AdamDirect enabled exchanges. To view the list of exchanges currently enabled for AdamDirect [Click Here]. Due to high demand, available ports may be limited. Ports will be allocated on a first in, first served basis.

Definitions
| †Speed | 24000k/1000k is the maximum possible speed of an AdamDirect service, generally only a small percentage of customers will obtain download speeds above 20000k. As the distance from the exchange increases, the speed will decrease accordingly. This decrease is affected by the quality of your phone line, including the internal wiring of your house. It is impossible for Adam Internet to determine the attainable speed prior to your service being active. As a general rule, we will only connect your service if your line will support 1500k or better. Based on a sample of existing AdamDirect customers, the average connection speed obtained is between 6000k/1000k and 8000k/1000k. |
| Monthly Data | Monthly Data will include all data transfers - eg. all web browsing (images and text included), emails, file transfer, newsgroups, instant messaging and Voice over IP. Double Data Bonus (DDB) - You are allowed on a monthly basis the equivalent value of your monthly data through our Peering Resources. Peering Resources include traffic between other Adam Internet customers, Pipe Networks, AdNAP, GamingSA and File Arena. For example: If you are on the AdamDirect Light account you can download 5000 MB of internet traffic as well as 5000 MB of data through our Peering Resources. Double Data Bonus is offered at no additional cost. You can obtain a detailed report on your monthly usage from our Member Services Area at any time. |
| Excess Shaped | All AdamDirect & Adam Home accounts have a monthly quota. Should you exceed that quota you will not incur any additional charges. Instead, your account will automatically be 'shaped' (reduced in speed) to 64k/64k (roughly twice as fast as dial-up) until the start of your next billing cycle. This will occur if you exceed your monthly quota on any data allocation (Download, Upload, Local (DDB), or Off Peak traffic). Each traffic allocation is counted individually and shaping will only occur if you exceed one or more allocation (not the total). Data usage can be checked from our members area at any time. Shaping is subject to a fair use policy. |
| *Monthly Cost | Costs are payable monthly in advance by Credit Card only. Billing will occur on the anniversary of the activation of your ADSL order. For example, if your connection is activated on the 7th of the month, your billing will occur on the 7th of every month thereafter. |

Wireless Upgrade
At signup you can upgrade from the standard modem to the Netcomm NB5plus4W Wireless ADSL2+ capable modem for an extra $50, [Click Here] for product details. This modem has a 4 port switch, 802.11g (54 meg) wireless access point and ADSL modem router all in the one box. It is recommended for multiple computers or for those wanting to use a wireless-enabled laptop. This upgrade offer is not available after your initial signup with Adam Internet.
Due to the nature of wireless connectivity, Adam Internet can provide technical assistance with the ADSL connection to the supplied router but wireless connectivity to your individual devices cannot be supported. Should you need help, you might like to consider an On Site Setup or using Netcomm's technical support (www.netcomm.com.au or call 1300 365 793).
Help Desk support is only offered for modems supplied by Adam Internet. Modems purchased externally cannot be supported, however Adam Internet offers a configuration data sheet for all ADSL connections.
Potential Additional Costs | |
|---|---|
ADSL Filters 1 for $15 2 for $25 3 for $40 |
For ADSL to work at the same time as your telephone, you will require a "Filter" to be placed between every telephone device and the wall socket. Examples of telephone devices include Phone, Fax, Eftpos Machine & Foxtel Digital Box. The modem supplied in the Adam package includes one filter, typically for a telephone (the modem does not require filtering). Additional Filters are easily installed but we recommend you limit the total number of filters to 4. If you require more than 4 devices to be filtered or have a monitored alarm system you may require a Central Splitter. |
Central Splitter $199 |
A Central Splitter is required if you need more than 4 telephone devices filtered or have a hard wired phone device on your line (eg. monitored alarm system). It is installed by a professional technician in your home at your convenience. Your Central Splitter cannot be installed prior to your ADSL service being provisioned. The Central Splitter provides filtering for all phone points and ensures your ADSL service achieves optimal speed. |
| Plan Change
|
Adam Internet provides a “value guarantee” that preserves your ADSL value throughout the term of your contract. For a single administration fee of $35 you may retain your current contract period but move to a plan which is less than the monetary value of your current plan. If in contract, you can change to a plan that is greater in monetary spend for free*. If out of contract you can change up or down in spend free of charge*. *Any plan change requiring a change in speed will cost $35 |
30 Day Tune Up
|
Adam Internet wants you to be on the right plan and therefore provides the ability to change your data allowance up or down within your first billing cycle. All you would pay is the monthly plan difference, as long as your speed remains the same. For example, if you started on our AdamDirect Light ($39.95 for 5 Gb/month) account and you found after 2 weeks you needed a greater data allowance you could upgrade to our AdamDirect Medium ($44.95 for 10 Gb/month) account for just $5. |
| AdamDirect Network Access Fee
$90 | Unlike standard ADSL, AdamDirect (ADSL2+) runs on our own private network. A fee is required to reinstate your line to a standard telephone network. Once your AdamDirect service is disconnected or cancelled this fee is payable. An option is available to pre-pay this Network Access fee at the start time of sign-up if you desire. |
AdamDirect Relocation Fee $99 |
If at a later date you move house or change your phone number, a relocation of AdamDirect to another residence is available at a cost of $99. Adam Internet cannot guarantee the availability of AdamDirect or standard ADSL at any residence, however Adam Internet can test ADSL availability on active phone numbers upon request. Adam Internet requires a minimum of 5 business days to relocate an ADSL service. Should relocation of an ADSL type service not be available a Dial-Up service shall be provided for the remainder of the contracted period. |
Optional Extras | |
|---|---|
Network Card $15 |
Most modern computers already have Ethernet connectivity (this looks like a 1 cm x 1cm phone plug, [Click Here] for image). If your computer doesn’t have this, USB can be used, or you can install an Ethernet Card (May Require a professional to install, [Click Here] for image). Ethernet is Adam Internet’s recommended connectivity method to the ADSL modem. |
Vet Anti Virus $55 |
** SPECIAL OFFER ** Virus protection should be considered a necessity. Vet Antivirus can protect your computer from most viruses and includes one year of online updates. Vet Antivirus cannot be provided individually and this offer is only available to new ADSL customers. Please note that at this time Vet Antivirus is only available for Windows operating systems. |
Switch 5-port $30 8-port $40 |
A switch allows you to connect Ethernet-capable devices (computers, X-Box, Network Printer etc) on the same Network. For example, with a 5-port switch, you could plug in the Netcomm NB5 modem (Standard ADSL modem included in ADSL package) into one of the 5 ports on the switch and then plug up to four additional devices (computers) into the other ports. This allows all devices to be connected to the Internet simultaneously. Network cables not included. |
On-Site Setup $99 |
The supplied Netcomm modem comes with a user-friendly self-install kit. If you feel uncomfortable installing your ADSL kit yourself or prefer the peace of mind of a professional setting up your modem, consider an on-site setup. This can be provided on a single computer with the standard Netcomm NB5 modem at $99 (includes up to 1 hour labour, additional hours at $99 per hour). A standard setup would rarely exceed one hour, however for multiple computers or wireless setups additional time may be required. |
